6039 Printer FAQs

  1. What is the weight of the Platinum?
The Platinum weighs 40 oz with a full roll of supplies and a battery.

  2. How fast will the Platinum print?
The Platinum has a variable speed paper motion system. The Platinum printing software analyzes the format of the label and combines the charge level of the battery and the temperature of the printhead to determine the optimum printing speed. The speed can range from a maximum of 1.5 in/sec. to 4 in/sec.

  3. What is the maximum drop height?
The Platinum has been drop-tested to 4 feet onto concrete with one drop on each side (for a total of 6 drops per machine).

  4. Does the Platinum have a backup battery?
Yes. It has an internal rechargeable lithium-polymer battery. It supports the Microsoft Windows CE based platform.

  5. How long will the backup battery last?
It will keep the Windows CE electronics alive for 19 hours when the electronics are in the suspend state and the main battery is removed from the handle. If the main battery remains in the handle, power is pulled from it and not from the backup battery.

  6. How long does it take to charge the Platinum’s main battery?
To charge a battery to the 80% level it takes approx. 90 minutes to fully charge a battery it could take up to 3 hours.

  7. How long will a fully charged main battery last?
Depends on the amount of printing on each label, the number of scans, the amount of data scanned for each label, the level of power management enabled in Windows CE, the usage of the backlight on the display and the amount on time it is on and the host computer and the idle time between each operation. Also if a radio connection exist, how many times and how much data is communicated between the Platinum and if power management on the radio and to what level.

USB On-the-Go port that is used for USB host or USB peripheral Communication.

  9. What is a USB On-the-Go port?
It is a USB port, Mini-AB, which can support either a host or a device. As host the USB port supplies the power to a device (like a USB keyboard or USB flash drive) and as a device the port accepts communications from a host (PC) via ActiveSync.

  10. What is the USB version?
The USB port is compliant to version 2.0. This is important because the Version 2.0 transmission rate is up to 480 Mbps.

Yes, the no-print zone is the area at the beginning or end of a label, which cannot be imaged due to motor ramping or stock motion limitations. No-print zones also exist along the edge of the supply to account for supply drift.
  1. Leading Edge NPZ
There is no software imposed acceleration no-print zone. However, a 6 mm (0.235") no-print zone is recommended at the beginning of the label to ensure optimal print quality.

  2. Trailing Edge of Label NPZ
The recommended deceleration No-Print zone is 3 mm (0.115"). Imposing on the deceleration No-Print Zone may lead to poor print quality or truncated formats.

  3. Right side No-Print Zone
The recommended inside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060”) to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89" wide. For 2.0” wide supply, c = 0.055" (2.0 -1.89)/2

  4. Left side No-Print Zone
The recommended outside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060") to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89” wide. For 2.0” wide supply, d = 0.055” (2.0 -1.89)/2

  5. Image Width
    The maximum value for i = 48 mm (1.89").

  6. Supply Width
For peel mode, w not to be less than 0.50" and not to exceed 2.05".
